Not too late to give

Posted by - WyFi Fans @ 10:52 am

Hello Warrior Families,

If you missed the deadline for Operation Christmas Child.  Don’t worry, there is still an opportunity for you to make a child’s dream come true.

The West Valley SART center is a county wide program run through West End Family Counseling Services in Ontario.  The program is funded largely through the California First 5 grant.  The SART program provides counseling services to families of children from birth to 5 years old.  Many of the children are in Foster care, have been removed from their homes due to neglect and abuse or born addicted to drugs.  The children who benefit from this program qualify based on low-income status and their families are struggling to just put food on the table.  I could go on about the despair that these children have experienced and continue to endure but in todays world and current economic situation, we can all imagine.

The week prior to Thanksgiving is a difficult one as many of these parents wait in long lines to receive just a spot on a list to possibly receive a gift for their child for Christmas.  As I worked with these parents that week the theme was the same…There were too many people and programs like Santa Claus Incorporated and even Toys for Tots had to turn people away. Unfortunately, the majority of our children were among those turned away.  As I saw the sadness in the eyes of the parents, foster parents and family members who care for these children I thought of Wyatt’s shoebox that missed the deadline.  Then I wondered how many other Warrior Families may have missed it too but still want to help out.

If you would like to donate a toy I can assure you that it will be greatly appreciated and received.  You can bring your donation to any Warrior practice or event from now until Friday, December 10.  The ages of the children we are currently serving range from 6 weeks to 5 years old.  However, the majority of the children are between the ages of 3 and 5.

Thank You so much!!!!

Lisa

Warrior All-Stars

Posted by - Warriors Baseball @ 10:11 am

So far the Warrior Boys are 5-0 in All-Star play. UFLL 9-10’s had a solid game against Montclair and will get a week off until they play Upland American next Wednesday. The Corona Boys (Ryno, AB, Cam, & Travis) are chomping at the bit to play next week, good luck. Continued Well Wishes to Kiki, Papi, & Wi-Fi as they play tonight. Also to Bear & Drew-Drew to jump start those bats and to the Puma keep the West Covina machine rolling. You are all missed! Keep playing hard and continue to be an example both on and off the field.

Update

Posted by - Warriors Baseball @ 8:35 am

Although it was a long and hot day yesterday, the boys had a blast. I am very pleased with how the boys played under the conditions and circumstances. It is impressive how the boys performed dealing with the flu-bug that hit 3 of our players and leaving us with only 10. Boys had to play positions they would not normally play and stepped up against an older and bigger team. Great Job Warriors! We continue to lift up Drew, Bear & Travis as they continue to be under the weather. Our Yard Sale is in Full Swing! Thank you to Janice for stepping up and taking ownership of this project. We hope all of you can support the yard sales in both Corona & Upland. God Bless and we will see you Saturday Morning.

We are set to have a scrimmage on Sunday May 16th at 1pm. Please have the boys arrive 1 hour early as I would love for them to take advantage of the cages available at the field and get some cuts in. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Thank you to all the Warrior Family for entrusting your sons to me for the last 4 months. My life has been enriched because I have had the honor of having these boys call me Coach. I also am thankful that my own son has had the opportunity to be surrounded by such a special group of young men. We are……… Warriors!
